Alister's Corner

I thought I'd preemptively test our marriage by spending ALL winter skulking around a cold wood shop, drinking cheap beer with my friends until late at night, and risking my fingers on a variety of spinning, whirring blades. You see, I was pretty busy this winter with a hobby of mine. I thought I'd share it here in order to try and explain my incredible lack of wedding-related work, which I'm sure is scandalizing Laura's family, and mine. However, it's over for now and I fully intend to be at this wedding, and maybe even help a little bit!

It's one thing to figure out how to make a snowboard for yourself.....

...you then have to make them for all your friends.......

.....and even teach the dog how to ride......

....but at the end, it's pretty satisfying.

In all seriousness, it takes a special person to have put up with my for the last 6 months, and this would've been impossible without Laura's support. Thanks, Baby.

The requisite 'cute' engagement photos... gotta recommend Lindsey Stewart, she does a great job.

Doggie = Gana, our new CCI pup. We got her in March.

The King's English

In these days of having friends and family flung far and wide, the greatest gift is having you at our wedding, no more... That said, people have told us they want more gift choices, so we've added a special, custom registry from the King's English bookstore. This place is local, independent and possibly one of the best bookstores we've been to. We definitely recommend stopping in while you're in town!

Knives!

Who doesn't love a good blade?

Knives are awesome. Really, one would be hard pressed to find a more useful object, indoors or out.  Plus they are fun to hold and many are quite beautiful.  You never know.. a knife could get you out of a jam someday. And the sharper your knife, the quicker and cleaner your escape! (Let's be honest!)

Lorenz is Salt Lake City's oldest knife shop, @213 East 300 South (Broadway).  A very friendly place that just turned 100. Tons of steel for sale and of course, grinding. We set up an in-store registry here, so if you want to buy a gift and support a local business... check them out!
